Good luck in the TCG Winter Team Match Play Championship.

Here are the details:

1. View the brackets below for your first round pairing and player contact info. Matches are to be setup at a time agreed upon by both teams.

2. Great news! We will be advancing TWO teams per Qualifying Site to the March 25 Finals! Finish 1st or 2nd and you advance.

3. Your free hour of simulator time at both Inside Edge Golf and Minnesota Golf Lab are being mailed to you. Watch for that to arrive in the mail by Friday December 9th. If you don’t see it (mailed to whoever paid online) by Monday December 11, please contact Alex Malmgren at twincitiesgolftour@gmail.com

4. Matches are to be completed within the time frames below. Any matches not completed will be decided by a Coin Flip:
Round 1: December 5 thru December 31
Round 2: January 1 thru January 22
Round 3: January 23 thru February 15
Round 4: February 16 thru March 12

5. Download your SCORECARD for your facility via the links below. Instructions for course selection, simulator settings and how to report scores are on each scorecard. Questions? Email Alex Malmgren at twincitiesgolftour@gmail.com.

6. If your Qualifying Site has less than 6 teams, all players will be guaranteed a minimum of 2 rounds with a Consolation bracket added. Winners of the Championship AND Consolation brackets advance to the Finals on March 25.

7. For each local Qualifying Site, the 1st place team will win a $200 gift card to that location and 2nd place team will receive a $100 gift card. BOTH 1st and 2nd place teams from each location will advance to the Finals to be played on Saturday, March 25 hosted at Inside Edge Golf.

8. If your match is tied afer 18 holes, continue to play Sudden Death until a winner is determined.

9. Instructions for submitting your scores is on the Match Play Scorecard (download below). Print out a scorecard and bring it with you when you play.

Experience the excitement of team match play with the TwinCitiesGolf.com Team WINTER Match Play Championship hosted December 5, 2022 through March 25, 2023 at 20+ indoor golf simulator qualifying sites around the Twin Cities metro and Minnesota. Sponsored by Gray Duck Spirits, Mulligan’s Golf, Go Low Golf & 2nd Swing.

How Does It Work?

1. Register your team by December 3, 2022. Brackets and the team contact information will be sent to all registered players on December 4 with Round 1 to be completed between December 5 and December 31.

2. Format is 2-Person Teams playing team Best-Ball Match Play (individual stroke per player with lower of 2 scores being your “team” score). A handicap is not required and scores are not handicap adjusted during the matches. Must register as a 2-Person Team. Maximum of 16 teams per Qualifying Site.

3. The registration cost is $50(+tx) per team and and includes:

  • Entry for the chance to advance to the Championship Round with a $10,000 prize purse* including payouts to the top 8 teams:
    1st Place = $3,000
    2nd Place = $1,500
    3rd Place = $1,000
    4th Place = $1,000
    5th Place = $1,000
    6th Place = $1,000
    7th Place = $1,000
    8th Place = $500

  • 1 hour of free simulator time at both Inside Edge Golf & Minnesota Golf Lab ($100 value).

  • Two (2) $10 2nd Swing tournament cards.

*Prize purse grows with each participating team - up to $10,000 with full field.

4. Teams choose the Qualifying Site where they will play their matches. This event is open to all golfers and a handicap is not required.

5. TCG creates the brackets and teams communicate with each other to setup their matches. Players simply cover any simulator rental time as they play.

6. For each round, teams will have a 21 day window to complete their match. The winner of each round advances to the next round.

7. Dates for each round to be completed are:

Round 1: December 5 thru December 31
Round 2: January 1 thru January 22
Round 3: January 23 thru February 15
Round 4: February 16 thru March 12

Winning teams at each Qualifying Site advance to the Championship Round on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Inside Edge Golf.

8. Rules for Match Play: Format for the TCG Team Match Play competition is 2-Person Team Best Ball (also known as fourball in the Ryder Cup) involves 2-person teams where each player on the team plays his or her own ball throughout the round. After each hole the player with the lowest score on the hole (or “best ball”) out of the 2-person team serves as the team's score.

9. Tee Box Assignments, Course Selection and Simulator Settings: Each Qualifying Site will have a Scorecard with course selection, tees and simulator settings.

10. If your match is TIED (All Square) after 18 holes continue to play as Sudden Death until a winner is determined.

11. The winning team at each Qualifying Site will receive a $200 gift card to that simulator facility and 2nd place team receives a $100 gift card.

12. The FIRST PLACE TEAM at each Qualifying site advances to the Championship Round on Saturday, March 25th hosted at Inside Edge Golf (Eden Prairie, MN) for a shot at the $10,000* Prize Purse. Their is no charge for the Championship Round and will be a dramatic head-to-head competition with payouts the top 8 team scores.

NOTE: A player may only play on ONE team at ONE location to give as many people as possible the chance to compete and WIN.

*With full field of 16 teams each at a minimum of 20 locations. If fewer than 300 teams, then $40 per team is contributed to the Championship Round placement prize pool (30% 1st, 15% 2nd, 10% 3rd thru 7th places, 5% for 8th place).
